Liverpool

The trip to Liverpool last weekend proved to be a most enjoyable day out. Travelling through the early morning mist we arrived to wonderful blue skies and bright sunshine.  Our tour began at the Roman Catholic Metropolitan Cathedral. Although the design of which was controversial when it was built, it has since become an iconic image for the city and instantly recognised.

One of the highlights of the day was the visit to Radio City.  The group were treated by the staff to a full and extensive guide of the radio station and the chance to see the workings of one of the recording studios.  Not only that but as there was an important football match being played at that moment, between Liverpool and Everton, rival local teams, there was the added bonus of being able to speak with a very well known Liverpool football legand and commentator, Ian St John.  To complete this visit the group were able to go up to the viewing platform for a spectacular view of the city, right across to the Albert Docks and Quayside where the ‘Three Graces’ are clearly visible with the River Mersey disappearing into the mist.

Of course any visit to Liverpool would be incomplete without a visit to the city's music heart and the home of the 'Fab4' The Beatles.

The group ended their day with free time to explore for themselves and returned both tired and enlightened.
